Charlotte rails at sexist smears
GOOD Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins is unimpressed by the critics who have pitted her against co-host Susanna Reid.
‘I don’t understand why people seem to think there is or should be a big rivalry between Susanna and myself and try to pitch us against each other,’ the 39-yearold blonde, right, tells me.
‘Maybe it is because we are women. Would two men be constantly pitched as rivals in the way we are?
‘We get on well both on and off screen, and I think that when we recently interviewed Ed Miliband we proved that actually we can work very well together as a team.’
Charlotte, a vicar’s daughter, was parachuted in from Sky News by ITV when they pinched Susanna from the BBC in the hope of rescuing the channel’s flagging morning ratings.
Susanna was promoted as the star but after a series of gaffes culminating in a toe-curling selfie with Tom Cruise last week, critics have noted that understated Charlotte has shone by comparison.
