Grandmother held after baby boy dies
A GRANDMOTHER has been arrested following the death of a three-week-old boy.
The 55-year-old was held on suspicion of causing a death by overlaying – a term normally used if a baby is suspected to have suffocated when somebody lies on them. She remains in custody.
Police were called to a house in Oldham, Greater Manchester, at 5.20am on Friday. The boy was pronounced dead in hospital shortly afterwards. Det Insp Dave Moores said: ‘This is an absolutely tragic case.’
