Peas in our time for Marco and Gordon!

-

ONE of the most notorious feuds in celebrity history – the battle between fiery Marco Pierre White and foul-mouthed Gordon Ramsay – has finally ended.

Marco has decided to make peace with his former protege, I can reveal, after the Scot agreed to contribute to a revised edition of Marco’s bestselling memoir White Heat.

It marks the end of a stand-off between the pair that has been simmering since the 1990s when Marco famously reduced his trainee to tears in the kitchen of his Michelin-starred restaurant Harveys.

And hostilities heated up further in 2000 when Gordon arrived at Marco’s wedding to waitress Mati Conejero in London’s Holland Park with a camera crew in tow – without asking for permission from the bride or groom.

According to Marco, the crews were lurking in the bushes, and he didn’t discover that his big day had been filmed until the episode of Ramsay’s documentary series Beyond Boiling Point was shown on Channel 4.

Marco branded Ramsay a traitor and swore he would ‘never speak to him again’.

But age appears to have mellowed the star, who told The Mail on Sunday in an exclusive interview in November: ‘Life’s too short for rows, fame and nonsense.’ Marco, 53, is planning to ‘unveil’ his new friendship with Gordon,

48, at a special lunch at Fort- num & Mason in London’s West End on January 29 to celebrate White Heat’s 25th year in print. ‘Everyone who has contributed to the book has been invited, including Gordon,’ Marco tells me. ‘It’s always nice to see him. He’s funny. I’ve known him since he was a boy.’ Marco, who hung up his whites in 1999, has a habit of falling out with fellow chefs but he will assemble some of the most famous names in the industry for the event, including Anthony Bourdain, Jason Atherton, Pierre Koffmann and Raymond Blanc.

But there will be one notable absentee – a chef still to bury the hatchet with Marco after a row. I gather Albert Roux has declined an invitation to the lunch.
