From Pizza Hut to supermodel... Now that’s the way to earn a crust

Scout spotted new star on Glasgow street

- By Toby McDonald

ONLY two years ago, she was waitressing in Pizza Hut.

Now Misha Hart has put the world of stuffed crust and extra toppings behind her to become one of Scotland’s most promising young models.

After being spotted on the streets of Glasgow by an international talent scout, the 20-year-old has taken the fashion world by storm.

Miss Hart has already been signed up as one of the faces of Topshop, with labels such as Burberry also lining up to book her.

Supermodel Kate Moss has picked her as ‘one to watch’ in Vogue, and she has been signed by agencies in London and Paris.

With her angular face, striking eyebrows and full lips, she is

‘The model agencies all went crazy’

tipped to follow in the catwalk steps of Scots supermodels Emma Tennant and Kirsty Hume.

As Kate Moss put it: ‘Success calls for this young model and she will soon be swapping Scotland for Manhattan.’

Miss Hart’s big break came while she was working for the pizza restaurant chain and had to stand at a Glasgow train station wearing a red blazer with Guaranteed Red Hot emblazoned across the back.

Talent scout Fletcher Harrington said: ‘I just saw her wandering around Glasgow. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I flew her to London and took her round to the modelling agencies and they all went crazy, my phone didn’t stop ringing. When I first saw her she was working on minimum wage at Pizza Hut. Now she’s on the verge of great things.’

He added: ‘She’s not like most models who crave the idea of fame – she’s very much a homely girl.’ Miss Hart made her catwalk debut in Burberry Prorsum’s Fall 2014 show, appear

ing in magazines such as Dazed & Confused, Vogue Paris and Marie Claire Italia.

Ashley Garrod at the Viva London agency told Harper’s Bazaar: ‘Misha’s gorgeous face isn’t the only reason she’s already working with top fashion houses like Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. Clients love her Glaswegian charm, quick wit and rock-star edge.’

Miss Hart, who is 5ft 9in tall, lists ‘singing, going to gigs and baking’ as her hobbies.

From Clarkston, Glasgow, where she lived with mother Fiona and younger sister Lucy, she stood out from the crowd even as a child.

She said: ‘As a kid, about eight or nine, I decided one day I wanted to chop all my hair off like Halle Berry as the secretary from the Flintstones Movie. So I did.

‘For years people thought I was a boy… but I didn’t care.’

Now she wants to make the most of her new career. ‘I want to visit everywhere but I’ve never been out of Europe so the list is endless. America could be a good starting place.’

Miss Hart is not the first member of the family to find fame – her father John, was a guitarist with the 80s band The Kissing Bandits, and worked with Deacon Blue. If she wasn’t modelling, she would be keen to follow in her father’s footsteps, saying: ‘I’d love to be in a rock and roll band.’
