Winand we’ll be in play-offs, says Kidd
LEWIS KIDD believes Queen of the South will clinch a Premiership play-off place if they defeat Falkirk this afternoon.
The Palmerston club go into this crucial clash in fourth place, one point ahead of their visitors having also played a game less.
They have four league games remaining and confidence is high in Dumfries after their 3-0 defeat of Rangers in midweek, during which Kidd was particularly impressive playing in the right wing-back role.
He said: ‘This is a massive game for us, it’s a decider in terms of the play-offs. We’re looking forward to it and we know we’re capable of winning.
‘They (Falkirk) slipped at Livingston but they’ll still be confident because they came to Palmerston earlier this season and knocked us out of the Scottish Cup.
‘If we do get into the play-offs, not many teams will fancy coming here. We’ve made it a bit of a fortress. We’ve beaten Rangers twice and did well against the two Edinburgh clubs. We’ve shown we can get positive results here and we want that to continue in the play-offs.’
Falkirk manager Peter Houston, meanwhile, has warned his entire squad that their first-team places are far from assured as the side embark on a six-day period which will define their season.
Houston acknowledges that his side must claim all three points today before facing Hibs next Saturday in their Scottish Cup semi-final.
Asked whether the lacklustre display in the 2-1 loss to Livingston in midweek could cost players their place at Hampden next Saturday, he said: ‘There can’t be anyone chapping on my door, saying: “Why am I not in the team?” after that.
‘This could be an opportunity for one or two of the boys who have not been in the team.
‘Our players have had a lot of praise for what they have done recently, but I can’t find any excuses for the way they played in midweek. That is the most disappointing performance we’ve had in a long time.’
