Gorgeous Viscountess reveals secret plan to switch festival to her Longleat home

-

EMMA WEYMOUTH, the gorgeous chatelaine of Longleat – famous for its lions – was whisked around Glastonbury yesterday on a ‘measuring the curtains’ mission as part of a secret plan to relocate the annual event to the grounds of her stately home in 2019.

I can reveal that the Viscountess, who added much-needed glamour to the mud-splattered proceedings, was treated to a bespoke Land Rover tour of Michael Eavis’s famous farm.

Navigating the event’s 8.5-mile perimeter, her chauffeur-driven expedition was designed to seal a deal that could see fans and artists alike moved 27 miles down the road during the farm’s fallow year.

Some have speculated that the long-term plan of Eavis’s daughter, Emily, is to relocate the festival away from the farm permanently.

‘It was interesting to see the scale of it all and learn the logistics so that I could view the whole site and understand what it’s all about,’ Emma told me when we met in the VIP area yesterday.

‘I only arrived on Saturday afternoon, so was one of the few people to have had a shower.’ Emma, 30, has been involved in running Longleat in Wiltshire since 2013 when she married Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount Weymouth.

Earlier this month she hosted a concert for 15,000, headlined by Elton John, seen by many as a practice run for the Somerset festival’s move. ‘We’d have to get the Glastonbury team in to manage it all at Longleat because it takes so much expertise to know how to put something like this on,’ she continued. ‘I think it will happen in 2019. It’s a very cool prospect.’

Longleat is certainly big enough to host Glastonbury’s 175,000 annual visitors, but the Weymouths may want to prepare for the swampy conditions.

‘I’m still getting used to all this mud,’ she said. But the lady still knows how to vamp – and strike a pose in one of three outfits she brought for her whistlestop tour.
