5 DOMESTIC ABUSE LAW

-

THE First Minister promised on Friday there would be new ‘measures’ to tackle domestic abuse. That is likely to see Scotland become one of the few countries in the world to create a domestic abuse offence, which would criminalise emotional abuse in relationships.

There is also the prospect of a domestic abuse ‘aggravator’, which could lead to tougher sentences for offenders. The Government is expected to throw its weight behind new protections against ‘revenge porn’ in an attempt to tackle the growing problem of internet-related crimes.
