-

I was saddened to read in last week’s Mail on Sunday that former detective Neil Woods believes it’s time to draw a line under the war on drugs, because their illegality means they fund further criminal activity.

Peter Hitchens’s riposte hit the nail on the head. In the end, the best argument is the moral one. Society should ask itself: ‘Are drugs good or bad? Do we want our children to be exposed to them or legally protected from them?’ We must not fail our future generations. D. F. Courtney, Weston-super-Mare The best way to put drug gangsters out of business is to decriminalise and regulate recreational drugs to make them safer and gain muchneeded tax revenue.
