Bradbury backs Edinburgh style

- By Rob Robertson

MAGNUS BRADBURY has backed Edinburgh’s new-look back division to cut loose and start playing a brand of attacking rugby that can propel them up the Guinness Pro12 table.

The capital club has come in for criticism because of their stuffy forwards-based style of play which resulted in an angry Alan Solomons claiming after their win over Scarlets on Friday night it was ‘arrant nonsense’ to suggest his players were under strict orders from him to play that way.

Bradbury, who scored a try in the 20-9 win over the Welsh outfit, believes the five new summer signings in the back division that includes the likes of Scotland internationalist, Duncan Weir, are starting to make their presence felt and have the flair to unlock defences.

Although Weir was man of the match for Edinburgh, Bradbury believes there are others in the back division such as full-back Glenn Bryce who can also make a big difference.

‘We have a basic structure but we have boys that can play. Our attacks have come on leaps and bounds over the past couple of years and this is something we will, hopefully, be able to push forward this season,’ said the Edinburgh No 8.

‘With the boys we have got, the attack can be a real weapon for us.

‘Players like Glenn have started the season well and he runs really well from the back field and gets us going forward. He is perfect to play off and is an exciting player to have in the team.’
