Klopp sees red but Guidolin left feeling the heat

-

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp spoke about his frustration at half-time after his side came back to heap pressure on Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin.

The Reds were below-par as they trailed 1-0 at the break to an early Leroy Fer goal.

But Roberto Firmino and James Milner rewarded a much-improved second-half performance to secure a 2-1 win and send Liverpool second in the table.

‘I was very angry. I have lost a lot of football games, but today makes no sense,’ said Klopp.

‘We were not ready and it is my responsibility. It was not good. The build-up was too static, no movement. We were never compact enough and we lost a lot of balls.

‘We got better in the second half and when we let the ball roll it became difficult for Swansea.

‘The second half was better, but still not brilliant. The performance was not perfect but it was good enough’

Firmino levelled with his fourth goal of the season, a 54th-minute header, before Milner swept home his third penalty in two games six minutes from time.

But Klopp said his side need to show greater discipline after the international break, the Reds returning to a home game against Manchester United on October 17.

‘It was not a day we should lose,’ added Klopp. ‘I didn’t think this would be a bad day, there was no sign in training.

‘We lost patience and were moaning about decisions. We need to stop that.’

Guidolin, meanwhile, praised his players but admitted he is unsure what the future holds for him at the Liberty Stadium, saying: ‘The players gave me a good answer. Our relationship is good. There is no problem between me and my players.

‘I don’t know (about the future). I know the situation. The important thing is to prepare with patience.’

Elsewhere, a late Patrick van Aanholt strike rescued a point for Sunderland after Nacer Chadli had put West Brom 1-0 ahead at the Stadium of Light.

The draw leaves David Moyes’ side bottom of the table and yet to pick up a win in the league this season.

Goals from Troy Deeney and Isaac Success meant Watford twice came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth.

Callum Wilson had given the Cherries a first-half lead before Deeney struck six minutes after the break.

Josh King restored their advantage eight minutes later before Success sealed a point for the Hornets.

West Ham United picked up a much-needed point at home to Middlesbrough but remain in the relegation zone.

Cristian Stuani had given Boro the lead on 51 minutes but Dimitri Payet levelled six minutes later.
