BOLLAN’S BOYS OVERWHELMED BY SLICK SAINTS

- By Ewan Smith

FORFAR boss Gary Bollan insists there was no shame in his side’s Irn-Bru Cup exit to The New Saints.

A hat-trick from Greg Draper ensured Stuart Malcolm’s header was little more than a consolation as TNS strolled into the quarter-finals.

And while Bollan is gutted his team are out, he admits the visitors’ European football experience placed them on another level.

‘I’m proud of my players,’ said Bollan. ‘You have to remember who we were up against.

‘This team plays Champions League qualifiers almost every season and are leading their league. It was always going to be a steep learning curve.’

Draper netted his first on 23 minutes when he pounced on a poor clearance from Michael Kennedy to fire the ball beyond keeper Grant Adam.

Malcolm then powered a header in off the bar from a corner to make it 1-1.

However, Draper’s second-half double sealed the win for the Welsh side.
