Boss Ross given perfect send-off

JACK ROSS took charge of Alloa one last time before taking up his role at St Mirren on Monday to oversee the Wasps cruise into the Irn-Bru Cup quarter-finals.

First-half strikes from Greig Spence (2) and Jon Robertson effectively sealed the tie.

Bala did pull one back from the spot on the hour mark through Lee Hunt, but Kevin Cawley restored the visitors’ three-goal lead before Stuart Jones rounded off proceedings with a header.

Ross, who was happy to serve out his notice period with the Wasps, said: ‘I give my players the credit they deserve for giving me the opportunity.

‘You are only as good as your players and they continued the standards they have set.’
