Klopp eyes fresh blood to keep title bid on track

JURGEN KLOPP is looking into the January transfer market in case Liverpool’s injury list worsens and threatens to derail their title bid.

He takes his side to Bournemouth today without key men Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, while Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino missed the midweek League Cup win against Leeds United.

Anfield manager Klopp said: ‘The more injuries we have, the more you think about it but a lot of people thought in the summer we should have more players and I thought it worked out really well.

‘I sat with the scouting department, speaking which (targets) is for winter, which for summer. It is always like this. You need to be prepared. If we need someone, we will try everything we can to do it.’

Liverpool have been linked with Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk and Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic.

The Reds are unbeaten in 15 games but Klopp insists nobody is getting carried away as they hunt a first title in 26 years.

‘Until now, nobody has celebrated anything,’ he said. ‘It doesn’t feel like this perfect start or whatever. It feels only like we did what we had to do. It is absolutely normal that people will start dreaming.

‘I’ve been here 15 months and cannot carry the history of Liverpool FC. These boys cannot carry the history.

‘If you want to say it’s a problem because we have not been champion for 26 years, I’d say this group has only tried it for the first time this year.’
