PENNY: WHY ROD LOVES MY YUMMY MUMMY’S TUMMY

- By Ben Ellery

THERE’S a lot of pressure on many women to get back into shape after giving birth.

But former model Penny Lancaster has disclosed that her rocker husband Rod Stewart prefers her ‘a bit more voluptuous’ and ‘with a little tummy’ after the birth of their two children.

The 45-year-old, now Lady Stewart after her husband was knighted this year, admitted her gym routine slipped after having children.

She told The Lady magazine: ‘Rod likes it, he says, when I’m a bit more voluptuous. I’ve had a little tummy ever since I had children and he says that’s so much more sexy on a woman than a flat, muscular stomach. How lucky am I?

‘But he does encourage me to exercise because he’s keen that I maintain my level of fitness.

‘His reasoning is that you need to keep your legs strong because they will be what’s going to carry you through life. And he’s a great example of that: he has a body of a man half his age.’

Lady Stewart, who is the third wife of 71-year-old Sir Rod, also disclosed that their sons – Alastair, ten, and fiveyear-old Aiden – are also keen exercise enthusiasts. She said: ‘Alastair is an amazing swimmer – he inherits that from my side – and gets up four times a week at 5.30am to swim before school.

‘His goal, he says, is to swim in the Olympics. He’s also obsessed with football. He almost sleeps with his football boots. As for Aiden, he wants to be just like his big brother.’

Lady Stewart also revealed that despite a complex family, all the relatives get along.

She said: ‘Dad’s 72, just a year older than Rod, with a wife who is younger than me. So all the generations are muddled up.

‘Aiden plays with Francesca, who is almost the same age but she’s his aunt. Then there’s Rod’s daughter, Kimberly, from his marriage to Alana (Hamilton), who has a daughter, Delilah, also five, who’s his niece. But we’re assimilated. That’s all that matters.’
