Aristocratic supermodel back in Vogue after TWO major hip ops at just 19

LADY JEAN’S GLAMOUR ... AND HER TRUE GRIT

- By Kirsten Johnson

SHE has quickly become one of the world’s most in-demand models – despite still being in her teens.

At only 19, Lady Jean Campbell has already reached career heights of which most catwalk veterans can only dream.

This month alone she graces the front cover of two top fashion magazines – Vogue Italia and Vogue Korea – as well as fronting Burberry’s latest big budget campaign.

Yet the young Scot, daughter of the 7th Earl and Thane of Cawdor, Colin Campbell, has admitted to facing secret struggles during her meteoric rise to fame.

Lady Jean, who has been described as the next Cara Delevingne, began the year in a wheelchair but the cause of her ordeal was unknown. Now she has disclosed that she has undergone two major hip operations during her short career, which meant that she had to learn how to walk in heels all over again.

However, the young aristocrat, who began modelling aged 16 when she was cast in her first Burberry campaign, did not allow ill health get in the way of her day job.

Lady Jean was photographed attending a high-profile charity event in January on customised gold crutches.

She was back to full fitness by the spring, taking to the catwalk for top fashion house Louis Vuitton at Paris Fashion Week in high-heeled black ankle boots.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, the teenager

‘I’ve had to relearn how to walk in heels’

discussed her hip surgery and revealed: ‘I’ve had to relearn to walk in heels twice.’

She also admitted that she only washes her long blonde hair twice a week but added: ‘I have to cut it pretty regularly as it grows quickly.’

Last week, the teenager, who was crowned Scottish Model of the Year at the 2014 Scottish Fashion Awards, posted photos of her two Vogue covers on her Instagram social media page.

Lady Jean, whose mother is former Vogue fashion editor Lady Isabella Stanhope, grew up on the 6,000-acre Cawdor Estate, near Nairn.

Acclaimed photographers Mario Testino and Bruce Weber are friends of the family, and both have used the wild landscapes of Cawdor in magazine shoots.

The teenager refers to Testino, who shot her first Burberry campaign, as Uncle Mario and has been pictured socialising with supermodel Kate Moss.
