Cameron Cottage gets stunning £200k revamp

... and it’ll only take him two months to pay for it!

-

NOW that he has walked away from politics, David Cameron has turned his attentions to another pressing matter – his property portfolio.

The former Prime Minister is splashing out on a £200,000 extension to his £1million cottage near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire.

He is also said to be giving a makeover to the £3.5million Victorian villa near Notting Hill that his family lived in prior to moving to Downing Street. That property was rented out while the Camerons occupied No10.

In Chipping Norton, where his celebrity chums include Jeremy Clarkson, Cameron is replacing a dated glass conservatory with a Cotswold stone extension, and demolishing some outbuildings. He is also repairing the roof, which he claimed in 2015 was ‘falling apart’ after protesters climbed on it.

The Camerons were granted permission for the work after no local residents objected. Since quitting as MP for Witney in September, Cameron, his wife Samantha and their children have been dividing their time between the Oxfordshire cottage and a friend’s £4million house in Chelsea. Despite the huge renovation bill, it is something the former PM can easily afford. Last week he gave a lecture at DePauw University in Indiana, and reports suggest that he pocketed more than £120,000 last month alone. At this rate, he’ll have paid for the work by the New Year! WHO can forget that Dolce and Gabanna campaign that made David Gandy a household name? The advert, below, showed Gandy wearing the skimpiest of white briefs on a dinghy in the Med. Nothing could be more glamorous… or so I thought. When I caught up with my hunky pal last week, he told me: ‘As I lay there in my little underpants, I was surrounded by 20 Italian fishermen holding my dinghy in place with their tug boat. They were smoking and staring at me and I had to try to pretend to be sexy. It was very distracting.’
