Tributes for tragic charity worker, 52

- By Kirsten Johnson

TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘friendly’ and popular charity worker who was found dead in her home.

The emergency services were called to Alyson Watt’s home in the Ralston area of Paisley shortly before 5pm on Friday.

Concerned neighbours contacted the police after seeing a distressed dog that was covered in blood fleeing from the property.

Miss Watt, 52, who worked at the local branch of children’s charity Barnardo’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy suffering from ‘critical’ injuries was rushed to hospital.

Martin Crewe, director of Barnardo’s Scotland, said: ‘We are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of our colleague Alyson Watt, who was a muchvalued and long-standing member of staff in Paisley.

‘Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy.’

One local resident said: ‘She was a friendly woman who would always smile when she passed.

‘She had lived here for a while and was always out walking her dog.

‘The whole community is shocked and our thoughts are with her family at this awful time.’

Police Scotland said last night that a man they wanted to speak to, Gary Brown, 54, had been traced in Dumfries and Galloway and arrested in connection with the murder and attempted murder inquiry.
