IN AN effort

-

to ease my annual pre-summer swimsuit panic, earlier this year I joined a local spinning class, called Cyclub. I was inspired by a friend who’d transformed her health, and persuaded her whole family (including children, aged 18 and 13) to go with her. When I mention spinning to exercise-curious patients, they often tell me they’re not fit enough. But where I go, the classes are taken by qualified personal trainers, and I was safely guided through the right settings and postures. And spinning is low-impact, unlike pounding a pavement, which I used to do until it started to cause me injury. Every time I go I seem to become a little bit more addicted to it, despite the exhaustion. I like sociable fitness – working out with others – and in spin classes you feel you’re working towards a goal together.
