Scotland stormed to their biggest ever win over the English at the original Hampden Park in front of 10,000 fans after leading 4-0 at half- time. Vale of Leven’s John McDougall became the first ever Scotland player to score a hat-trick for his country. In those days, teams did not even have a manager.
