It took England nine attempts to finally get a win north of the border and they did it in considerable style at Hampden. Captain Tinsley Lindley wore walking brogues instead of football boots, but the Nottingam Forest striker helped destroy Scotland, who had no answer to the visitors’ attacking prowess.
