Will Nats see red over oor Willie?

-

HE is the Scottish school caretaker who is impoverished, lives in a shack and is constantly angry at the world. So Dog cannot imagine why a YouGov poll found The Simpsons’ Groundskeeper Willie, left, was the fictional character people felt most likely to vote SNP. Professor McGonagall, of Harry Potter fame, was second – heaven knows the SNP could use some magic right now. SPEAKING of angry Nats, the Groundskeeper Willie wing of the SNP has been raging online at the National Trust for Scotland, which apparently asked tenants not to emblazon its beautiful buildings with political banners. As this was clearly a Unionist plot, many of them announced they were tearing up their NTS membership cards – which one suspects will encourage the rest of the population to sign up. IT was perhaps a crude protest, but the voter who marked the box of Sandy Batho in Edinburgh West with a picture of a penis should know that as the one symbol on the ballot paper it was judged to be a valid vote for the Tory candidate. And when Mr Batho was consulted he replied at once: ‘I’ll take it.’
