May’s a winner . . . (Brian May, that is)
THEY have a combined wealth estimated at £355million – and the three surviving members of rock legend Queen are still adding to their fortunes.
Their company Queen Productions, which manages royalties from their live performances and theatrical shows including the musical, We Will Rock You, has seen revenues dip, but still managed a multi-million pound dividend payout.
Accounts just filed show Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon – plus the late Freddie Mercury’s estate – shared a £5.7million dividend, down from the previous year’s £11million.
Revenue fell £7million from £19million to £12million, while profits dropped from £7.1million to £4.9million, with the fall due to ‘fewer and smaller shows’.
However, this looks likely to change this year as the group – featuring vocalist Adam Lambert – kicks off a massive tour of North America next Friday before moving on to Europe in November and December.
