It’s a mys­tery to me why yet another ver­sion of Mur­der On The Ori­ent Ex­press, this time star­ring Daisy Ridley and Ken­neth Branagh, is be­ing made. Surely ev­ery­body knows who­dunit by now? Philip Bran­non, Lon­don How fit­ting that scrump­tious Daisy Ridley is re­turn­ing from the dis­tant gal­ax­ies of Star Wars to take a com­part­ment on the Ori­ent Ex­press. It was her grea­tun­cle Arnold Ridley – best re­mem­bered for play­ing dod­dery Pri­vate God­frey in Dad’s Army – who wrote the clas­sic play The Ghost Train.

In fact, as the com­edy thriller was first per­formed in 1923, more than a decade be­fore Agatha Christie’s clas­sic novel was pub­lished, per­haps the Queen of Crime was in­spired by it. Stephen Car­leton, Lon­don
