AT LAST... Harry puts a ring on it!

But alas for Meghan, it’s only on her thumb

- By Zoe Griffin

HE’S given her a beaded bracelet, a love bangle and a necklace.

Now Prince Harry has bought Meghan Markle a gold band – but sadly for the actress and Royal watchers, it is meant for her thumb rather than her wedding finger.

Apparently having run out of jewellery to present to his girlfriend – short of an engagement ring, that is – the Prince has bought himself time with a gold thumb band.

According to sources on the set of her US TV show Suits, Meghan only takes it off to film scenes under the guise of Rachel Zane, her highachieving paralegal alter ego.

A source on the Toronto set told The Mail on Sunday last night: ‘It’s a gold band and Harry gave it to her about six weeks ago.

‘She’s happily told people on set that it is from him and said it is a little too big so she is always careful not to lose sight of it.’

The ring is the latest sign that the Prince is besotted with his longterm girlfriend.

His first gift to her was a blue and white bracelet, which she wears on her left hand. It matches one he himself wears on his right hand.

The 32-year-old Prince has also given Meghan a £5,000 Cartier Love bracelet which is designed to be locked with a screwdriver and rarely taken off and is seen as a sign of commitment.

She also wears a gold Maya Brenner necklace adorned with the initials H and M, as well as a gold arrow ring, which also appears to feature the letter H. Meghan, 35, reportedly rotates her jewellery to give subtle messages to Harry while they are apart – which they have been a lot lately thanks to her filming duties and his heavy schedule of charity work.

Meghan is said to be keen for her work commitments to end so that she can relocate to London and live with Harry at Kensington Palace.

The actress is yet to sign up for an eighth series of the hit drama, which Harry began watching before he met her. The source added: ‘Meghan feels close to Harry when she wears jewellery from him and he is very keen on symbolic gestures.

‘He has given all his girlfriends love tokens, especially bracelets.

‘But giving Meghan a ring is quite a serious upgrade from beaded bracelets. Meghan takes it off for filming but rushes to put it back on afterwards. It is clear that the ring has a lot sentimental value and that she finds it very hard to be separated from Harry.’

Meghan recently spent a week in the UK with the Prince, joining him during the evening part of Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception.

They are due to spend time together later this year when Harry hosts his charity initiative, The Invictus Games, in Toronto where Meghan has a home.

THE Queen’s garden at Balmoral is to become Britain’s most upmarket campsite.

For the first time, she will allow the grounds of her Highland estate to host a charity walk – and those taking part can set up tents in the UK’s only campsite by Royal appointment.

At the request of Prince Harry – a patron of Walking With The Wounded – the Queen is hosting the charity’s inaugural Balmoral Challenge next weekend. Teams of four will take on one of three routes on the estate and the event is expected to raise at least £50,000 for the group, which supports Armed Forces veterans. Andy Sloan, Walking With The Wounded events manager, said the fundraiser had the monarch’s personal backing, saying: ‘The Queen graciously granted us permission to put on the event, which starts and finishes right in front of the house. It is a really unique opportunity for us and those who take part.’

No member of the Royal Family is due to be in residence, although people are expected to flock to the estate in hope of seeing Prince Harry.

So far, 40 teams – including veterans – have registered for a 20.5-mile race over Munros, a 12.5-mile hunt for clues, or a nine-mile trek for families. Funds raised are set to benefit at least 40 veterans directly.

Balmoral Estate factor Richard Gledson said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Walking With The Wounded.’
