Obsolete in just six years
THE Nokia Asha 300 mobile phone was one of a series of budget handsets intended for people in ‘emerging markets’ or developing countries.
Launched in October 2011, the phone, pictured, boasted a 2.4in touchscreen alongside a traditional keypad. Available in colours graphite, night-shade, gold, white silver, pink and red, it was designed to be longlasting and easy to use and also included a camera. The demo version of the video game Angry Birds came pre-installed.
In the fast changing world of mobile phones, it was reported that Microsoft, which took over the Nokia mobile devices brand in 2014, was planning to discontinue the model. As technical innovation surges ahead, the brand has since been taken over again, by HMD Global.
