I suggest that the House of Commons should do the same every week to remember the life of the late and much lamented former Lib Dem leader, Charles Kennedy. Every time Ian Blackford, the SNP’s new Westminste­r leader, stands up to ask a question at Prime Minister’s Question Time, the house should fall silent in remembranc­e.

And this should remind Mr Blackford and the country of the vile campaign he led in 2015 to unseat one of Scotland’s favourite sons.
