Woman, 18, murdered at beauty spot

A MURDER investigation was launched yesterday after the body of an 18-year-old woman who had been brutally attacked was discovered at a beauty spot.

The teenager’s family called police on Friday when she failed to return from her sixth-form college, and officers found a body in the early hours of yesterday at the Orrell Water Park near Wigan, Greater Manchester. She is understood to have suffered head injuries.

Detective Superintendent Howard Millington said: ‘This was a brutal attack. We have a full team working on finding out what happened to her and who did this.’
