Masters glory a false dawn

WINNING the 2016 Masters was supposed to turn Danny Willett into a major force in golf — in fact it’s had the opposite effect. After his Augusta triumph he bombed at the other majors, finishing a lowly 37th at the US Open, 53rd at the Open and a dismal 79th at the USPGA. And this year it’s been even worse for Willett. He shot seven over in his Masters defence to miss the cut, suffered a first-round exit in the World Matchplay and failed to break par in four rounds at the BMW PGA at Wentworth.
