FALKIRK ON EASY STREET AT BRECHIN

FALKIRK maintained their 100-per-cent record in Group A with an easy 3-0 win at Brechin.

Goals from Lee Miller, Joe McKee and Alex Harris sealed the Bairns’ seeding in the knockout phase, while rivals Inverness CT ended with a 2-1 triumph at Forfar after goals from George Oakley and John Baird.

The Highlander­s missed out on the next round as they weren’t one of the highest-placed runners-up.

Hamilton sealed their last-16 slot with a 3-0 win over Stenhousem­uir — with Ali Crawford, David Templeton and Steven Boyd on target.

Albion Rovers were denied top spot after drawing 2-2 with Queen of the South at Palmerston.

The home side won the penalty shoot-out after Alan Trouten had twice given Rovers the lead — once from the spot. Queens’ scorers in normal time were Stephen Dobbie and Darren Brownlie.

Raith finished their failed Group C campaign with a 2-0 victory over Cowdenbeat­h, with Lewis Vaughan and Liam Buchanan in the goals.

Morton sealed second place in Group F behind Motherwell thanks to a 5-0 win over Edinburgh City but ultimately missed out on the next round.

Bob McHugh made an early breakthrou­gh before Jai Quitongo doubled the home side’s lead just after the break.

A Robert Thomson double made it 4-0 and McHugh finished the scoring at Cappielow.
