REED LIFTED BY RARE BIRD

PATRICK REED bagged a rare albatross as he stayed in contention at the European Open in Hamburg.

The American holed his second shot with a five wood at the par-five 18th as he completed his second round yesterday morning before going on to finish seven under after three rounds alongside Scotland’s Richie Ramsay (71) following a 70.

They are five shots behind England’s Jordan Smith, whose 67 left him two shots ahead of Swede Jens Fahrbring (70) and Frenchman Alex Levy (69).
