Windass tips hitman to score 30

for £1million from HJK Helsinki, will be worth much more than that when Rangers cash in on his talent in years to come.

For now, he says, Rangers supporters should enjoy watching the 21-year-old progress at their club.

‘We are working with him, he’s a young boy,’ said Caixinha.

‘He’s keen to learn and listens. His English is getting better, making it easier to understand the others. I can speak Spanish, so it’s easy for me to let him understand what we want.

‘So, give him time to learn and build his confidence, because he has the tools. He’s a goalscorer but we want more from him. We will help him get better, like we help all the players.’

While Morelos has proved an instant hit, attacking midfielder Windass endured a torrid first season with Rangers during which he came in for plenty of criticism from supporters.

His header, on 68 minutes, was the key second goal yesterday that settled those Rangers fans down before the team went on to emphatically claim a first Ladbrokes Premiership home victory of the season.

‘It was great to come on and score,’ said the 23-year-old. ‘I knew I was going to be a sub but I said to myself that if I got on I’d try and make the team better. Thankfully I did that.

‘I think you can see we have real quality on the bench now. Players like Jason Holt and Dalcio aren’t even making the bench. It shows the depth of our squad. I was delighted to see Carlos (Pena) get on the scoresheet too. He’s been coming on really well in the last few weeks and took his goal well.’

Dundee boss Neil McCann, angered by his defence losing its shape as substitutes Windass and Pena netted, saw his side drop to the foot of the table on goal difference.

‘I’m not panicking at all and it’s not a concern,’ said McCann.

‘Dundee fans might be unhappy about it. I am far from happy about it. But I am not in it for five games this time. I’m in it for the long haul.

‘I’ll take responsibility for being a wee bit open against Rangers. I could have played experienced players and tried to be hard to beat but I have to allow my players the freedom to perform.’
