HE finalised his divorce from his wife of 17 years only two weeks ago.

But Scottish actor Kevin McKidd, 44, has already revealed that he is in a new relationship – with the same mystery woman he was seen kissing outside a cafe in California 16 months ago.

Today, The Scottish Mail on Sunday can reveal that she is 29-year-old animal rights activist Arielle Goldrath.

Grey’s Anatomy and Trainspotting star McKidd, originally from Elgin, Moray, released a picture on social media to his 1.1 million followers of his new girlfriend, while the pair were out horseriding.

In the photo, McKidd and Miss Goldrath were sporting cowboy hats and his Instagram and Twitter posts said: ‘Happy New Year to everyone, love from us! Love you all!! #forevercowboys #newyearnewbeginnings.’

Miss Goldrath lives in Topanga, just outside Los Angeles, and is the co-owner of the Canyon Girls Catering company. It supplies food to the film industry and could be how she and McKidd met.

According to some of McKidd’s fans, she also bears more than a passing resemblance to his ex-wife, Jane Parker.

Miss Goldrath frequently posts links to petitions that are aimed towards furthering LGBTQ and animal rights on her Facebook page. She also posts pictures of herself horseriding and of her dog, which McKidd has been spotted walking. But she has not gone public with any photos or comments confirming their relationship.

According to reports, Miss Parker filed for divorce from McKidd during the summer of 2016 only weeks before their wedding anniversary and their split was made official on December 22 last year.

The pair married in 1999 and have a son Joseph, 17, and 15year-old daughter Iona. Their divorce saw McKidd agreeing to pay more than £16,000 a month in child support, as well as for private school and summer camp, and just shy of £50,000 a month in spousal support.

They will share joint custody of their children and, although they both have their own homes, the couple will also ‘rotate in and out’ of the family property in Malibu so their children can continue to live there without constantly travelling, in what is described as a ‘nesting arrangement’. In addition, McKidd will pay 20 per cent of his annual income – around £2,211,000 – to his ex-wife. When the children turn 18, he will no longer have to pay child support, but McKidd will have to up his spousal support payments by £9,000 a month for four years.

In 2016, he was seen kissing a ‘mystery woman’ at acafe in Los Feliz, California. It is not known if he had split from his wife then.

The break-up was a surprise, as McKidd had seemed adept at balancing his acting career alongside his family duties.

After the success of Trainpotting, in which he played Tommy, he struggled to find regular work, supporting his family by labouring.

The actor, who once worked in an Elgin distillery, moved to the US after landing the role of Roman soldier turned politician Lucius Vorenus in HBO’s Rome. But when his solo show, Journeyman, was cancelled halfway through its first season, McKidd was so broke he nearly moved back to Britain.

He was originally offered a guest role in Grey’s Anatomy, which has now lasted nine years. He has also directed 18 episodes.

The identity of his new girlfriend had puzzled his followers, with many disappointed it was not his former Grey’s Anatomy screen wife, actress Sandra Oh.

Some asked if it was Jennifer Aniston and one commented: ‘She looks just like his ex.’
