A Girlfriend for grown-ups
ONE of the greatest things about Kay Mellor’s whiplash-fast new comedy series Girlfriends is the joy of watching Miranda Richardson (pictured) back on primetime television.
She plays Sue, one of the friends, with all the gusto she applied to Queenie in Blackadder. It helps that her foils are Phyllis Logan and Zoe Wanamaker, but mostly it helps that this is grown-up writing for grown-up women.
