The PC and a very flustered florist

FLORIST Martin Longman created the Queen’s beautiful Coronation bouquet at the family’s shop in Ludgate Hill in the City of London and delivered it with his son David.

David, now retired, recalls how they were nearly arrested: ‘We delivered very early in the morning. All the roads were closed. A policeman came across and said, “What the Dickens are you doing here?” He was happy once we’d told him. There was a great deal of nerves, not so much in the creation, but in the arrival of all the flowers from different parts of the UK, collecting them from railways or getting them delivered.’
