Morelos brings out the sunshine in Florida Cup
ALFREDO MORELOS struck twice as Rangers recovered from two goals down to end their Florida Cup involvement with a 100-per-cent record. Graeme Murty’s side trailed to goals from Rodriguinho and former Celtic striker Colin Kazim-Richards, but seven substitutions at the interval resulted in a far more impressive second period. Morelos began the comeback in the 63rd minute by converting a whipped free-kick from QPR loanee Sean Goss. The other January signing at Ibrox, Jamie Murphy, then cut back a low cross and the Colombian striker dispatched a leftfoot finish 12 minutes from time. In between those goals, Andy Halliday marked his return by supplying the equaliser inside Orlando’s Spectrum Stadium. Again, Morelos was involved, providing a delivery from the right that Halliday — recalled from a loan with Gabala in Azerbaijan — hammered into the net. The seal was set on another victory over Brazilian opposition, following Thursday night’s win against Atletico Mineiro, when Dalcio’s cross was spilled by Corinthians’ goalkeeper Caique and James Tavernier knocked the ball into the net. Rangers had trailed from the 32nd minute, when Romero’s cross was sidefooted home by Rodriguinho. KazimRichards, who had an unsuccessful four months at Parkhead during Ronny Deila’s tenure, doubled Corinthians’ advantage with an excellent angled strike. However, the half-time overhaul served Rangers better than their opponents to ensure Murty’s squad flew home with confidence enhanced.
