STARS who’ve performed Las Vegas residencie­s:

LIBERACE

The bejewelled pianist first performed in Vegas in 1944. He continued to appear there into the 1970s and opened a Liberace Museum in Sin City. He died of Aids in 1987, aged 67.

ELVIS PRESLEY

Elvis was relatively unknown when he first performed in Vegas in 1956, aged 21. Four years after his 1965 film Viva Las Vegas, he began a residency at the Internatio­nal Hotel, playing 636 sell-out shows until 1976. He died in 1977.

FRANK SINATRA

His first show was in 1951. In the 1960s, the Rat Pack — Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford — held court at The Sands hotel. Sinatra’s final Vegas concert was in 1994.

CHER

The singer signed a £42 million annual deal in 2008 for her Cher at the Colosseum residency. She played almost 200 shows over three years.

CELINE DION

The singer completed two residencie­s, in 2003-07, and in 2011 for three years. The initial run earned her an all-time residency record of £282 million.

BRITNEY SPEARS

Her residency at Planet Hollywood began in 2013 and was extended by two more years in 2014. She made £47 million from 140 dates.

ELTON JOHN

Elton, 70, is planning a final run of Vegas dates this year after performing 450 shows and earning more than £220 million.
