Three teens killed in horror crash ‘on way to 16th birthday party’

- By Abul Taher

THREE teenage boys were killed when a speeding car ploughed into them as they walked to a friend’s 16th birthday party.

The trio, a 17-year-old and two aged 16, suffered terrible injuries when they were hit by a black Audi that mounted the pavement in Hayes, West London, on Friday.

Police refused to confirm their names but written tributes left at the scene, as well as media interviews by friends, identified one victim as Harry Rice, pictured, and the two others only as George and Josh. The incident occurred on Shepiston Lane near the M4 just before 9pm. Eyewitnesses said the car veered off the road and onto the pavement, hitting the boys before smashing into a cemetery wall and coming to a stop. Scotland Yard said at least two occupants of the car tried to flee the scene, while one was held after being set upon by friends of the victims. Pictures of the mangled Audi taken by a witness appeared on the internet last night.

One bystander described one of the Audi’s occupants running away before being attacked at a petrol station by two teenagers, who were walking with the victims at the time of the collision.

Jake Webb, a schools administrator, said: ‘We saw two boys and they were attacking a man. I said, “Can you stop that, we’re going to call 999.” They said, “Please call the police.” ’

Last night, Scotland Yard confirmed that they had arrested a 28-year-old man.
