Hartley’s Bairns bandwagon rolls on after Caley’s red mist
FALKIRK took the significant step of moving away from the bottom two for the first time this season as the stewardship of Paul Hartley began to take proper effect.
Falkirk’s third win in four matches took them above Dumbarton and into 10th position.
The game’s outcome hinged on the stupidity of Jake Mulraney, who was booked twice in three minutes just before half-time for fouls on Andrew Nelson to leave his team a man down.
His manager John Robertson later fumed: ‘Jake will be light in his pay packet next month and so will everybody else now if they start to pick up stupid, unnecessary yellow cards.’
Falkirk took just three minutes of the second half to make their advantage county when Joe Chalmers needlessly brought down Louis Longridge and Aaron Muirhead sent Mark Ridgers the wrong way.
Muirhead was again successful from the spot in 65 minutes after Collin Seedorf’s challenge on Tommy Robson.
Inverness made things nervous when Jack Brown found fellow 16-year-old Daniel MacKay in 84 minutes and he finished superbly.
However, Alex Jakubiak set up Nelson for a tap in three minutes later.
‘I thought we were excellent, especially in the second half,’ said Bairns boss Hartley.
‘Once we got going, we played some good stuff and we could have scored more goals.’
