Rodgers may have to revise his plans

-

Gordon is likely to see Rodgers revise his recruitment plans for the final days of the transfer window.

Dorus de Vries stepped in for the second half yesterday in only his sixth appearance for Celtic, while third choice Conor Hazard was on the bench for Falkirk.

Meanwhile, it is hard to see any last-ditch bids for Moussa Dembele succeeding if Celtic are left with just he and Odsonne Edouard as attacking options for Europe and their Treble effort.

‘We certainly might need to look at the goalkeeping situation,’ said Rodgers. ‘We sent Conor out on loan, funnily enough, because he needed some experience.

‘I think he can be a very good keeper for us in the future but he needs to get games. It’s an area that we might need to look at.’

Rodgers confirmed he has not given up hope of luring Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda to Celtic in the next few days.

The Belgian midfielder has long been a target for the Parkhead boss and has been made available for loan by Antonio Conte.

Spanish side Leganes are also interested and, although the Stamford Bridge club would prefer to lend the 21-year-old to another English side, Celtic hope European football and pursuit of trophies can win the day.

Rodgers said: ‘He’s a big talent, you’ve seen him come on the other day for Chelsea and play a great pass. He’s a terrific talent, so we’ll see.’

The Parkhead club have had a subdued transfer widow so far. Defender Marvin Compper was purchased from RB Leipzig but is injured, while Lewis Morgan has been loaned back to St Mirren for the remainder of the season.

Rodgers is working to enhance the creative side of his team before the midweek deadline. He added: ‘I would very much hope that by the time the window closes there will be something.’

Kieran Tierney spoke for the entire, subdued Celtic dressing room of hopes that both Gordon and Griffiths are not out for as long as is feared.

‘It’s an important win for us and a great clean sheet — but the dressing room is a bit down with the injuries to Leigh and Craig,’ said Tierney. ‘It’s unfortunate. Leigh had come back in and it’s a shame for him. He scored the goal and almost scored a free-kick.

‘But he’s had a couple of niggles with his calf before. He’s got us six points in the last two games with two winners.

‘Everyone knows Leigh gives us energy. He’s a great player who gives his all for the team.

‘If he does miss the Europa League game, we’ll have to cope with it. Anyone who comes in, we believe in them.

‘When Craig punched the ball, I was trying to run for it and I just saw both him and Efe going down. Unfortunately he had to come off but hopefully it’s not too serious either.’
