IT’S ALL IN THE START...

-

The start is pretty vital. You need to have a world class, explosive push.

It has been calculated that one-tenth of a second at the top is worth two-tenths at the bottom. In our sport, you can win or lose by one one-hundredth of a second, so that is massive. The push is the only part you can train for during the summer, with the sliding practice taking part through the winter.

We are good in Britain because we talent ID young athletes for their 30m start and carry out the explosive power tests on them and then run a psychological profile. We want to find athletes who have a certain amount of sprinting skill and then teach them how to slide.
