Brown tried to ‘sort out’ Cochrane

-

HEARTS boss Craig Levein has reiterated his belief that Celtic skipper Scott Brown tried to ‘sort out’ Harry Cochrane during their midweek clash at Parkhead.

Cochrane, the 16-year-old Hearts midfielder, required hospital treatment for a collarbone injury following a robust challenge from Brown.

And Levein, who had previously stated that all players need more protection from Brown, told the BBC yesterday: ‘It was a bit tongue in cheek. Scott was speaking to Harry during the game and was telling him what he was going to do, so there’s no doubt his intention was to make up for the — I wouldn’t say embarrassment — but the fact Harry did better than him at Tynecastle and he set out to sort him out and he managed to do that.

‘I mean, it could have been very serious. It wasn’t the initial challenge, it was the way he came down and used his elbow to try and nobble him when he was on the ground. Of course it was (intentional). But listen, that’s part of the game.’
