GMT would ruin all our summer fun

One letter writer last week said putting the clocks forward is a waste of time. It would certainly be a waste of time if we kept GMT throughout the year. How many people want daylight at three or four o’clock in the morning in summer?

And who wishes darkness to descend as early as 8pm in our lighter summer months? Certainly not those of us who enjoy playing or watching summer sports or a summer barbecue. Alan Wild, Birmingham
