Nick’s just a general manager

- Mary Wiedman, Hemel Hempstead Josephine Juden,

How did someone as wet as General Sir Nick Carter become head of the British Army? Last week you reported he has threatened to block the promotions of thousands of officers unless they improve ‘inclusiveness and diversity’ in their units.

His PC agenda is wrong in a time of terrorist threats, when toughness is a necessity. I can’t bring myself to call him General. He is just another manager. General Carter wanted to drop the ‘Be The Best’ slogan despite the fact it carries our troops forward as they go into battle surrounded by people they trust and who would lay down their lives for each other.
