Single sex occasions celebrate diversity
These days we have males identifying as females who demand the right to use female facilities, and, presumably, vice versa.
Confusion reigns in our society, with demarcation boundaries becoming blurred beyond recognition. I am surprised that ‘transitioners’ have not yet asked for a third way – rest rooms for the middle sex. Now the Derbyshire Chief Constable, Peter Goodman, has taken against his force’s male-only choir on the spurious grounds that its existence breaches the principle of equality.
There are many occasions when both men and women enjoy working and socialising together. But there are occasions when the members of each gender prefer to be in the company of members of their own sex only. That does not abrogate the principle of equality but acknowledges that, while equality is the foundation of working relationships, there are occasions when members of both sexes thoroughly enjoy moments of single-sex bonding.
Let us celebrate such diversity.
