Horne sounds a battle cry for Warriors crowd
PETER HORNE has backed the home crowd at Scotstoun to roar Glasgow into the Pro14 final.
The Scotland international fly-half was man of the match in the bonus-point win over Connacht that guaranteed Warriors a place in the knockout stages with two league games left.
In the 2015 semi-final play-off, a 10,000 full house at Scotstoun helped Horne and his team-mates to a thrilling 16-14 victory over Ulster.
The sold-out signs will be up again when Glasgow play their home match in the last four on the weekend beginning May 18, with Scarlets or Toyota Cheetahs their likely opponents.
‘Scotstoun has always played a significant part in our past,’ said Horne. ‘It is great playing there and a tough place for the opposition to come.
‘Our fans have been fantastic this season and nobody fancies coming here.’
Horne is looked on as the heir-apparent to Finn Russell, who leaves Glasgow in the summer to join Racing 92.
Horne turned in a top-class performance at No 10 in the 35-22 win over Connacht.
He ran the show and kicked 15 points in a performance which earned him the man-of-the match award.
‘The forwards made my life easy and Henry (Pyrgos) was superb at nine,’ said Horne.
‘As to next season, I have jumped about between 10 and 12 in the past but I am just desperate to play and do whatever I can for the team.’
