Loser undecided about his future after crushing blow

- By Daniel Matthews AT THE O2

DAVID HAYE refused to call time on his career, despite suffering a second brutal stoppage defeat at the hands of Tony Bellew on Saturday night.

The 37-year-old was floored three times as Bellew followed up his victory last March with another stunning victory.

Haye had said in a build-up that only a ‘spectacular’ victory would convince him to prolong his career, during which he has won world titles in two weight divisions. But in the ring immediately after his fourth career defeat, the Hayemaker said he would wait before deciding what comes next.

‘I didn’t feel great in there tonight. I’ll have to look at the tape and see what went wrong,’ he said. ‘Tony boxed a great fight, showed some clever stuff in there, I couldn’t quite get off. He boxed very well, I didn’t.’

Bellew was overcome with emotion after the victory following the death of his brother-in-law Ashley Roberts.

The Liverpool fighter dedicated his win to his late family member, adding he would like to fight Andre Ward.

‘All the away through, I’ve been on my own in my hotel room and in each night I’ve cried. I’ve been emotional… I miss him so much,’ he said.

‘David Haye is an amazing fighter, he just got into a slug fest… speed and timing decreases with age, power doesn’t… he goes down a better fighter than me… I’m happy I’m safe, I seriously came to this ring and I was willing to be finished.’
