Miller vows to fight for his reputation following bitter exit from Ibrox

- By Graeme Croser

KENNY MILLER has vowed to fight for his reputation after lodging an appeal with the SPFL in dispute of his fine and suspension from Rangers.

Miller and Lee Wallace were punished in the wake of a dressingroom incident that followed the club’s loss to Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final in April.

Neither have played for the club since and, although Miller has now left Ibrox after the expiration of his contract, he has explained why the matter will not be laid to rest.

‘It is to defend myself against the allegations and the defamation of my character, which has happened twice this season,’ he said, making an apparent reference to claims that he was behind a dressingroom leak in the lead-up to Pedro Caixinha’s sacking last September.

‘It is still an ongoing matter and that’s why we’ve not really been talking at all in the six or seven weeks since it happened. We are disputing the fine and we’ll just have to see how that goes.

‘The time will be right when I can clear a few things up — not just about this situation but what’s happened over the season.’

Although 38-year-old Miller has now left Rangers, Wallace is expected to return for pre-season training under new manager Steven Gerrard next week.

The pair clashed with former boss Graeme Murty at Hampden following the 4-0 cup defeat but, speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, Miller insists the incident was blown out of proportion.

‘It is something that happens in every dressing room,’ he added. ‘These things happen with people who care.

‘I never wanted to leave the club that way but that was taken out of my hands.’
