Launched by Kelways nursery in 1891, this bushy plant produces golden daisies above mounds of feathery foliage.

A wild species from Bulgaria with masses of 2in-wide orange flowers held on 2ft stalks from June until the end of summer.

SUSANNA MITCHELL

White daisies with a yellow centre rise above clumps of silvery-grey leaves. The variety, right, was introduced by Blooms of Bressingha­m.
