Callachan leads rampant young Hearts team to a simple success

HEARTS powered to a comfortabl­e 5-1 victory over League Two outfit Forfar Athletic.

Ross Callachan (above) opened the scoring for a youthful side after 13 minutes with a half-volley that bounced over Forfar stopper Marc McCallum and into the net.

Jake Mulraney added a second from close range before half-time.

Dario Zanatta put the friendly beyond any doubt at Station Park when he scored the third goal on 49 minutes. John Baird pulled one back for Jim Weir’s side before youngster Rory Currie found the net twice late on to add gloss to the scoreline for the Premiershi­p club.

Hearts start their season on Wednesday night when they travel to Cove Rangers to play their first group match in the Betfred Cup.
