I was so lonely I slept with female escorts, says pop star Lily Allen
SINGER Lily Allen has revealed that she slept with female prostitutes because she was ‘lost and lonely’ during her marriage break-up.
The troubled pop star said: ‘I’m not proud, but I’m not ashamed. I don’t do it any more.’
Last night, after being approached by The Mail on Sunday, she announced that she will include details of the encounters in her forthcoming memoir, My Thoughts Exactly.
Lily, 33, later told her 870,000 Instagram followers: ‘I slept with female escorts when I was on tour, cause I was lost and lonely and looking for something.’
She said she met the escorts in 2014 around the time she released her album Sheezus and was suffering from post-natal depression after the birth of her second daughter Marnie a year earlier.
She was also experiencing marital trouble and in 2016 split with businessman husband Sam Cooper after five years of marriage.
Lily later blamed her life in the spotlight for the way her personal life unravelled.
In a recent interview talking about the period she said: ‘I lost my sense of self. I lost my identity. I was being a bad mum.
‘I was being bad at my job. I’d wake up on a tour bus in the middle of Wisconsin and be so hungover. I cheated on my husband.
‘All I wanted to do was be with my kids. I wasn’t even making any money.’
Lily previously criticised fellow pop stars the Pussycat Dolls for acting like ‘prostitutes’.
She said in 2006: ‘The Pussycat Dolls can get away with gyrating in no clothes, promoting prostitution and womanising, if you ask me it’s wrong.’
It has been reported that the book is also set to chronicle details of her rumoured trysts with Oasis singer Liam Gallagher and Mike Skinner from The Streets.
Her parents, actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen, split when she was just four.
Her memories of childhood include being left in a room at the Groucho Club with a chocolate bar while her famous father was drinking downstairs.
In previous interviews she also said that her parents’ separation left her insecure and desperately craving attention.
Last year she revealed that she had been sexually harassed, and indicated that she is taking action against her tormentor.
Speaking in a podcast, and referring to the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Lily – who is currently dating MC Meridian Dan – said: ‘I’ve been harassed. I can’t talk too much for legal reasons but I’m in the process of dealing with something.’
